#24: This guy.

In the fall of 2007, a junior who transferred from a quaint, relatively conservative school in the South transferred to OU.  His second night in Athens, he returns to his home on North Congress to find this man in his bushes.

Drunk or Athens?

The fact that this image was a welcoming one to someone coming from the Bible Belt is just icing on the cake.

In Athens, this drunkard’s situation might have made more sense if his head were where his feet are, and vice versa. It might have made more sense if that house had been having a party. It might have made more sense if the home on North Congress was on the typical beaten party path. But they weren’t, it wasn’t, and it’s not.

That this photo is an anomaly on passing out in public is unique in its own right, which could lead to its qualification as just another one of those “Athens-things.”

Epic passing out, though, is the function of a true drunk, not unique to our especially thirsty town. With college humor websites loaded with photos like this, and this, it’s easy to conclude that Athens can’t take responsibility for this, that’s just drunk.
